字中金藝 – Craft-ligraphy
2021 黃銅 Brass

這作品由六十個金字旁的字組成, 抒銅有幸邀請書法家華戈，馮兆華先生合作, 華戈的字在宣紙上化開, 成為了每一個字的筆觸精要, 我們把字轉印到銅片上, 然後用卓弓「鏤空」的技巧去卓出這六十個字。我們認為人手卓字, 比起用機械切割,多了一份柔韌嘅感覺。銅字卓出後, 我們會清潔打磨, 但並沒有加上任何保護層, 因為我們是十分欣賞銅自然氧化的美態, 我們期待作品記錄與環境或人的互動 銅字以不同高低間距吊掛, 讓觀者能以多角度去欣賞作品, 在文字之中認識到金工藝術同時間能欣賞華戈字裡行間的行雲流水。

This artwork is composed of 60 Chinese characters, and we had the honor of collaborating with the calligrapher Mr. Wah Gor, Fung Siu Wah. Wah Gor’s characters, flowing gracefully on rice paper, became the essence of each stroke. We transferred these characters onto brass plates and then used the traditional “Piereing” technique to meticulously carve out each of the 60 characters. Hand-carving these characters, compared to mechanical cutting, adds a sense of flexibility and warmth. After carving, the brass characters are cleaned and polished, but we do not apply any protective coating. We deeply appreciate the natural beauty of brass oxidation and look forward to the artwork recording its interaction with the environment and people. The brass characters are hung at different heights and distances, allowing viewers to appreciate the work from multiple angles, experiencing both the art of metalworking and the fluid elegance of Wah Gor’s calligraphy.
